New Fishing Regulations for 2008 Season...
The following is a summary of the new regulations set out by the  Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources ( MNR ) for the 2008 fishing season. For a complete listing of the fishing regulations you can download the entire publication from the MNR site (see links below):

Lake Biscotasi falls in Division 19 in the Ontario Fishing regulations. There are two types of fishing licenses available to the angler, which are the Sport fishing license ( S ) and the Conservation license ( C ).
Regulations for :
Daily limit is the number of fish you are allowed to catch and keep in one day. The possession limit is the number allowed to have in your possession on hand, in cold storage, in transit, etc. Possession limits are the same as one days catch limit. Shore meals are fish caught that day and eaten and are counted as part as the daily catch limit.

Walleye
  • Possession / Daily limit*: S - Four in one day, C - Two in one day.
  • Size limit: only one greater than 46cm (18.1")

  • Possession / Daily limit*: S - six in one day, C - Two in one day.
  • Size limit: S - Two greater than 61cm (24" ) of which only one may be greater than 86cm      ( 34") in length, C -  one greater than 61cm ( 24" ) and none above 86cm       ( 34") in length.

  • No limits
Perch
Northern Pike
Non-residents 65 years of age or older are not exempt and must purchase a fishing license.
Non-residents 18 years of age and over must purchase a fishing license.
Non-residents under 18 years of age may fish without a license if accompanied by an adult who has a valid Ontario fishing license. Any fish caught are part of the catch and possession limit of the adult who holds the license.  As another option, non-residents under 18 years may purchase a license and any fish caught apply to the catch and possession limits of that license.
No Slot Limits!





Up until December 31, 2007 Canadian Residents residing outside Ontario are treated in the same manner as Ontario residents for the purpose of fishing.  Canadian residents required an outdoors Card and paid the same angling license fees as Ontario Residents.  This has been changed as of January 1, 2008.
The following is in effect as of January 1, 2008:
1)
Canadian residents will be defined as a person whose primary residence is any part of Canada, other than Ontario, and who has actually resided in any part of Canada other than Ontario for a period of at least 6 consecutive months during the previous 12 months;
2)
Canadian residents will continue to require an Outdoors Card;
a)
Newly issued Canadian Resident Outdoors Cards will be created and identified with a “CR” embossed on the Card centered between the eye colour and the date of birth;
b)
The picture on the Outdoors Card will remain the same as for Ontario residents;
c)
Resident Outdoors Cards held by Canadian residents will continue to be valid until they expire;
3)
Four new license types will be created and are in effect as of January 1, 2008:
a)
Canadian Resident Sport Fishing License;
b)
c)
d)
Canadian Resident Conservation Fishing License;
Temporary Canadian Resident Sport Fishing License and Outdoors Card Application;
Temporary Canadian Resident Conservation Fishing License and Outdoors Card Application
